The Zimbabwe Republic Police have confirmed the arrest of five family members in connection with the murder of 54-year-old John Chimana Chaora in Guruve. The suspects, aged between 16 and 58, were arrested following an investigation into Chaora’s disappearance and subsequent death.

Chaora was last seen alive on Christmas Day in Kazunga Village, and a missing person report was filed on December 28, 2025, after he failed to return home. The police investigation led to the recovery of stolen belongings and the discovery of Chaora’s body near Ambush Dam on New Year’s Eve.

The arrested suspects include Kelvin Katuruza Chaora, Chemika Gwenzi, Bvumbe Mandeya, Ranwes Chaora, and a 16-year-old juvenile. The motive behind the killing is still under investigation, and authorities have indicated that more details will be released as the case unfolds.

The local community is shocked by the tragedy, and the police are continuing their investigation to piece together the events leading to Chaora’s death.
