The Commissioner-General of Police, Stephen Mutamba, has released three additional rebranded Ford Everest vehicles to the recently launched National Highway Patrol Unit, increasing the unit’s operational fleet to nine vehicles.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police says the move is part of a broader strategy to strengthen visibility, response capacity, and law enforcement along major highways, especially as traffic volumes increase during the festive season.
Authorities have urged motorists and the general public to take note that more National Highway Patrol vehicles are expected to be deployed soon, signalling intensified operations aimed at promoting road safety, reducing accidents, and curbing criminal activities on the country’s roads.
The police have called on all road users to cooperate with officers, observe traffic laws, and drive responsibly as the nation enters a busy travel period.
