A routine ride turned deadly in Ruwa last Friday when a disagreement over a 20‑ZIG change escalated into a violent attack. Amos Karumba, 40, was allegedly beaten by the driver of a blue Honda Fit, Luckman Kamangile, 27, after demanding his change upon reaching his destination. Witnesses said the argument quickly became physical, with Karumba receiving multiple blows.

After the assault, Karumba’s wife rushed him to a local clinic. He was later taken home, where he died the following day. Police confirmed the driver’s arrest. “We have apprehended a Ruwa man in connection with a murder case involving one of his passengers,” said Assistant Inspector Faith Mapisa, deputy provincial police spokesperson. The victim’s body was sent to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals for a post‑mortem examination.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward. The incident highlights the tragic consequences that can arise from seemingly minor disputes over fare change.
