POLICE CRACK INTERNATIONAL JOB-SEEKERS FRAUD
COMPANY DIRECTOR REMANDED FOR ALLEGED INTERNATIONAL JOB SEEKERS FRAUD
Following intensive investigations, Botswana Police on Sunday (22/11/2025), arrested a Zimbabwean man, Evans Sivechere, aged 29, at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, for 11 counts of fraud.
The accused, who is a Director of Diamond Migration (PTY) Ltd, operating in Gaborone, was arraigned before the Village Magistrate Court today (25/11/2025).
According to the charge sheet, between October last year and 23/10/2025, the accused and his company allegedly defrauded 11 individuals of a cumulative amount exceeding P240,000.00, under the pretence that the company was processing their employment opportunities abroad and processing work permits on their behalf.
Victims reportedly submitted all the required documents and payments, only to later discover that they had been swindled, as the promised jobs never materialised.
The fraudulent promises reportedly involved job placements in several countries, including Ireland, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Republic of Luxembourg, Republic of Finland, Republic of Poland and Greece.
Police investigations indicate that additional charges may be forthcoming as investigations continue. The accused has since been remanded in custody and is expected to appear before court on 02/12/2025.
Botswana Police Service reminds members of the public to remain vigilant when engaging employment or recruitment agencies, and to verify the legitimacy of entities before making payments.
