Kwekwe – A 32-year-old man from Mbizo has been sentenced to four months in prison by the Kwekwe Magistrates’ Court after being convicted of indecent assault involving a minor.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) of Zimbabwe confirmed the conviction in a news bulletin issued on January 7, 2026. The NPA stated that the offender was the uncle of the 15-year-old victim, and the two were residing in the same household at the time the offence was committed.
According to court proceedings, the incident occurred in December 2025 when the accused approached the minor while she was alone in her room. The prosecution established that the man subjected the victim to non-consensual physical contact. The victim resisted the assault and later reported the matter to authorities.
Prosecutors told the court that a WhatsApp voice note was central to securing the conviction. In the recording, the accused reportedly attempted to justify his actions and issued an apology, which was admitted as evidence during the trial.
