A 19-year-old man from Moneni village in Mangwe, Mxolisi Ncube, has been remanded in custody pending trial for allegedly engaging in an act of bestiality with a female goat and later escaping from police detention.
Ncube appeared before Plumtree magistrate Joshua Nembaware on charges of bestiality and escaping from lawful custody. Prosecutor Sheila Nyathi told the court that Ncube was caught in the act by the complainant, Dumoluhle Mnkandla, on 8 December at around 10pm in a goat pen.
The following day, Ncube allegedly escaped from police custody after asking for water and pushing an officer aside. He was re-arrested on 18 December after a manhunt and is currently in custody awaiting trial.
The case has been adjourned to 30 December for further proceedings.
