Harare – President Emmerson Mnangagwa called on ZANU‑PF members to turn the party’s conference decisions into action, highlighting the controversial “2030 agenda” that would keep him in office until 2030, two years beyond the constitutional limit set for 2028. Speaking to the politburo, he stressed that the party’s secretariat must set clear timelines for implementing all resolutions.
The 2030 plan, adopted at the recent party conference, is seen by insiders as a move to block Vice‑President Constantino Chiwenga from succeeding Mnangagwa, while businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei is also mentioned as a possible contender. Mnangagwa praised the party’s recent strategic workshops aimed at reshaping leadership roles and warned against social‑media misuse that fuels internal discord.
He reminded members that ZANU‑PF must remain “above individuals and personalities,” with grassroots activities guided by the party’s founding principles. The President urged politburo officials to act with integrity, restraint and discipline to preserve the party’s image.
